Alexander Mcqueen S/S 2010

Ok, So the live show didn't work out to plan, overall I saw about 2 minutes of footage. So instead I had to wait until this morning to watch the show in full. It was definately worth waking up for, The catwalk was lit up,and had two moving cameras on either side following the spectators and models. The backdrop was showing a video by Nick Knight of Raquel Zimmermann.

The clothes themselves were very structured and showed McQueens signature style well. They were digitally printed with reptile patterns. As the show went on the colours changed from green and brown to a mix of blues to silvers. All the shoes were fantastic, but extremely unattractive, they looked like they had just stepped out of a sci-fi film. In fact McQueen stated at a press release this collection was 'casting an apocalyptic forecast of the future ecological meltdown of the world'.
Towards the end, sheer fabrics had been incorparated into the blues and silvers, and took a slightly more feminine feel. The last garment was a burst of silver, texture, and structure. The dress, skin tight trousers and shoes all matched and still reflected that of reptile skins or werid and wonderful creatures.

It was an amazing show.

Viktor and Rolf

Well, Viktor and Rolf's creations for Spring/Summer 2010 were, to put it straight, amazing. Tulle ball gowns and fancy trimmings were seen with pastel colours and abstract shapes being the main theme of their collection. Of course being who they are didn't they didn't hold back on bringing the fashion industry their eccentric designs. They used the idea of the recession and cutting back by literally cutting out shapes from the volumous skirts giving the ball gowns surreal qualities. Other items included fitted jackets with oversized trimmings from shoulder to wrist. Overall I found it very beautiful and very inspiring.

Freshers Week

Well, my freshers week started off a little differently than planned, and rather than going out being a social stranger to the majority, I spent the 14th September 09 passing out in front of my new house mates, and spending most of the week in a hospital bed because of an ovarian cist. How inconvienient.

Not only have I missed freshers but I have and will be missing London Fashion Week. I am told all the time, its not what you know its who you know. Well Lets face it I am never going to meet anyone new if I become a recluse in a ward. Nevermind, instead I will have to read up on all the fabulous things that are being shown and wait for next time around. Hopefully my body won't decide to give in this time next year.

So this is going to be my thoughts through out my fresh start and so on. Enjoy.
